रमणी चन्द्रिका लक्ष्मी: पद्मिनी रञ्जिनी तथा। मालती मोहिनी चेति वर्णेलासप्तकं तथा¹ ॥४५९॥

समा यत्र यति: पादे प्रथमे च द्वितीयकेद्विगिद्वितीयके(?) ।

पादे पादे च नादाढ्या॰द्यो॰ षट्पदी रमणीति सा³ ॥४६०॥

स्रोतोगता समा चैव यत्र पादद्वये भवेत्⁵। बिन्दुभिर्गमकैर्युक्ता चन्द्रिणीति प्रकीर्तिता⁷² ॥४६१॥

गोपुच्छा च समा स्रोता यत्र पादत्रयेऽपि च । मूर्छना नादसहिता सैला लक्ष्मीरिति स्मृता⁸⁴ ॥४६२॥

आद्ये पादे द्वितीये च तृतीये च चतुर्थके । वर्णध्वनिसमायुक्ता पद्मिन्येला निगद्यते⁹ ॥४६३॥

प्रथमे च समा प्रोक्तास्रोता द्वितीये च तृतीयके ।

गोपुच्छा गमकाढ्या च रञ्जिनी नाम सा भवेत् ॥४६४॥

लघुभिर्गुरुभिर्वर्णैयां तु प्रासैर्विनिर्मिता । यथेष्टका चतुष्पादा सा चैला मालती मता¹¹ ॥४६५॥

[D. Once again the group of seven Varņailās]

Ramaņī, candrikā, lakṣmī, padminī, similarly rañjinī, mālatī and mohinī - thus is the group of seven varņailās.¹

[1. Ramaņi]

Where there is samā yati⁶⁸ in the first and second foot and that which is adorned with nāda in each foot, that satpadī 69 is ramaņī.

[2. Candrikā]

Where srotogată⁷⁰ and samā yati obtain in two feet and (that which) is combined with bindu-gamakas, that is called candrini.²

[3. Lakşmi]

Where gopucchā, 71 sumā and srotogatā (yatis) obtain in the three feet (respectively) (and) there is mūrchanā ⁷² accompanied by nāda, that clā is known as laksmī.

[4. Padminī]

(That) elä which is comprised of varņadhvani⁷³ in the first, second and third and fourth foot, is said to be padminī.

(Where) there is samā (yati) in the first and second (feet) and gopucchā (yati) in the third (foot) and that which is adorned with gamakas is rañjinī.¹⁰
